GIMC vows to treat artists equally

giOrganizers of the Gaborone International Music and Culture Week (GIMC) have promised to treat artists equally, despite their country of origin.

The GIMC is a multi discipline event which is held every end of August and ends first week of September (27 August to September 3) with local and international artists merged together to celebrate Gaborone City and its residents. This year's edition is expected to be headlined by international acts like Black Coffee, Ricky Rick alongside locals who include Sereetsi and the Natives. A total of 50 artists are expected this year.

In an interview with Fish Pabalinga, the event organizer he made it clear that artists performing at the GIMC are going to be given the same respect.

"We treat everyone equally, no one is bigger that idea. International artists are artist just like local ones, they are all working so no one deserves the special treatment," said Pabalinga.

He went on to say that music lovers should expect top range security at venues where the show takes place. Pabalinga said over 300 security guards some with dogs and horses are going to patrol during the event.

"Security is our top priority that is why we never had any ill incidents," he revealed.

This year the event is going to be spiced up with Theatre.

"This is easily the biggest event in Botswana that has the most varied performances. There is everything for every one," Pabalinga stated. GIMC has allegedly been rated as one of the best Music Festival's in Africa.

The aim of the Festival is to celebrate arts and culture in Botswana at the same time doing cultural exchanges with other. Tickets range from P100 to P250 with normal, gold circle and VIP tickets.

"The VIP ones are mostly for corporates that want to wine and dine with their clients whereas gold circle is also good seat to buy as it is close to the stage," Pabalinga concluded
