Gaborone International Food Festival To Promote World Culture

The city of Gaborone will on the 5th of September 2015 host this year's International Food Festival with about 60 countries expected to participate, at a venue to be announced in March, from 10am to 10am the following day.

Lloyd Mwape, the Communications Manager of the Festival, told The Tswana Times that the event will promote all cultures of the world especially those living in Botswana and create a rare and unique opportunity to get other cultures appreciate Setswana Food.

Mwape highlighted that the event will be aggressively advertised through social media, print media, television, fliers etc around Botswana, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe, and hence they are expecting a crowd of not less than 15,000 people.

"Small, medium and large scale businesses will be given an opportunity to network, trade and crossover to a wider and larger market through this event," said Mwape.

"There will be Celebrity guests chefs to educate people on how to do certain dishes so that Gaborone restaurants can add and improve their menus," added Mwape.

Mwape said entertainment during Festival will be provided by various artists both locally and internationally, clowns, magicians and jumping castles, to just name a few.

He explained that tickets prices and sale points will be announced on the 1st of June 2015 and will be available in Botswana, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

"This is an early step into making Gaborone a destination of choice at least once a year and the ultimate family event that brings Gaborone together with Food as a common denominator," said Mwape.
