A local academic has expressed concern at the slow pace of diversification and militated for greater urgency on the part of authorities in accelerating the process.
"Certainly if we want to get value for our money we need to beneficiate. If you export raw materials you do not get value for money. If we ship unprocessed raw materials we are going to be shortchanged," said Emmnuel Botlhale, Senior Lecturer in Public Finance at the University of Botswana.
