PPADB officials say Batswana do not tender
The celebral but outspoken policy chief of the Botswana Movement for Democracy(BMD).. Government has slammed the preference for Chinese contractors despite a growing pool of local contractors for big government infrastructure projects whilst pouring scorn on government’s spending priorities on defence and military expenditure.
Delays in submissions of end of activity reports by public entities pose a challenge to the Board in terms of tracking the performance of all contractors say authorities at the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Board(PPADB).
“In 2011/12, 53 or 36% out of a total of 148 expected end of activity reports were submitted and reviewed by the Board,” said Bridget Poppy John, Executive Chairperson of PPADB.
Over the weekend five Botswana Congress Party (BCP) constituencies of Gaborone Region namely Gaborone Central, Gaborone North, Gaborone West North, Gaborone West South and Gaborone South will hold marches to protest against high electricity bills in the face of stagnant civil service salaries and rising inflation.
