Stanbic Bank Botswana Supports Growth of News Reporting Space

GABORONE – Stanbic Bank Botswana continues to support platforms that seek to reward talent in the media space, with a particular focus in the delivery of news to Batswana, a vital part of how we as a community consume information on local and international developments.

The Bank affirmed its support through the sponsorship of Good Radio Awards Best News Reader Category. The inaugural awards were held in Gaborone on the 25th of November at Masa Square Hotel, with Boemo Dibeela of Radio Botswana named as Best News Reader.

The Good Radio Awards is a platform for the general public, corporate world, government and media to applaud, reward and celebrate outstanding performers in the radio broadcasting fraternity in Botswana. The purpose is to grow and celebrate this particular broadcasting platform, one which Stanbic Bank believes to be paramount to the media space as a whole. This is further supported by the fact6 that the Lilac media perception Survey (2012, 2013) has identified radio as the most trusted and preferred media platform after word of mouth.

“The media make up an integral part of society and it is imperative that we recognise and reward individuals who have excelled in their respective fields. News readers, especially, play an important role in making sure that news is delivered professionally, accurately, and transparently. One cannot underestimate the importance of getting this right to our society and our economy.  We celebrate the effort thus far, and encourage further growth in the media space, as our local media start boxing with the very best in the world,“ said Stephanie Stoneham, Stanbic Bank Botswana Head of Marketing.
