Botswana Faces Early Childhood Nutrition Crisis

Botswana is ranked as one of the worst countries in the world in ensuring that children receive sufficient nutrition in their first 1,000 days of life. According to the State of the World's Mother's 2012 report released by international charity Save the Children published this week, "Children in an alarming number of countries are not getting adequate nutrition during their first 1,000 days".

This will be the main emphasis at the national celebration of World Red Cross Day, scheduled for the 25th May, 2012 in Kasane, under the theme 'Youth on the Move'.

World Red Cross Red Crescent Day is celebrated internationally on 8th May, and the Botswana Red Cross Society (BRCS) marked the day with a press conference to highlight the successes of, and challenges facing, the organisation.
