Sustainability vital in the health sector

"If we cannot sustain ourselves into the future, we might as well close shop," said Dorcas Makgato, Minister of Health. Makgato said this at the commemoration of the third world health day held at Tsholofelo Park, Thursday.

The open day was intended to educate the public about health services, showcase health services as well as vital sign screening to check for other diseases.
The Minister said that it is natural to project into the future and balance the attention given to those communicable and non communicable diseases since which are hurting the economy alongside HIIV/AIDS.
Makgatho said it is each person's responsibility to take care of their personal health and not just the responsibility of nurses or the government. She said the ministry is undergoing restructuring and prioritizing so it can focus on prevention rather than cure since prevention is cheaper.
The event was themed: "Your Health, Your Responsibility"
The event was conducted by a tour of the stalls showcasing services provided by Ministry of Health.
