Parly backs Mokaila's billion pula request

Mokaila said the requested amount comprises P 381,326,380.00 for the recurrent budget, and P 3,316,876,235.00 for the development budget.

Among those who gave their support Member of Parliament for Letlhakeng West constituency Ngaka Ngaka said his support for requested amount was predicated by realization Ministry of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources Ministry was the backbone of economy of this country.

"I fully support this request but I won't be doing myself any favour if I don't talk about the problems that my constituency is facing,we are dying of thirst," said Ngaka.

He said his constituency has had no water since last week Friday hence he is giving his support to the Minister so he can be able to fix this problem.

"The issue with the Water Utilities Cooperation should be addressed too, those people have failed our people and I think it is high time we thought of cutting ties with them," he continued.

He also said he has a problem with the fact that his constituency was not in the electricity connection development plan.

The Vice President of the Umbrella For Democratic Change(UDC) Ndaba Gaolathe revealed he supports the budgetary allocation with certain proviso's.

"I also want to talk about the objectives that your ministry has clearly stated but are later taken lightly,you also need to set targets for yourself as a ministry .For example,how much electricity you want to produce at a given time and make sure you meet that target", said Gaolathe.

He said the ministry should take a look at their water and sewage drainage development strategy particularly that of places like Gaborone Bonnington South.
