Rudisha’s No Show Gives Amos “Lease Of Hope’’ahead Of Championship

Botswana’s “golden boy” Nijel Amos looks certain for glory as he takes
center stage in a highly contested 800m in the World Championships this
Saturday. Amos’s road to victory has somehow been smoothened by the
withdrawal of  rival David Rudisha who pulled out of the race due to a
quad injury.

Amos’s gets into the race oozing with confidence and will look to
rubberstamp his authority against fellow contenders as he attempts to take
advantage of Rudisha’s absence and prevail in the highly contested
championship race.

Few days before the Competition bided for London August 4 2017 –August 13
2017, Rudisha announced his withdrawal from the race through his official
twitter handle.

“Its sad and disappointing to announce my no show in the forthcoming
#london 2017 WC due to a quard muscle strain,”twitted Rudisha on Monday
(July 31 2017).

Although the withdrawal of Rudisha came as a blow to the athletics world
and spectators around the world the odds this time around favor Amos who
will be vying for glory in the champs.

In 2012   the then 18 years old   unknown Marobela born Amos made history
chasing the Kenyan Rudisha who proved to be a ‘hard nut to crack ‘all the
way to the finishing line thereby clinching the first ever Olympic and
silver
medal for the Country at a major event.

In Rudisha’s absence glory beacons for Amos at the World Champs in the
“london Olympic stadium’’a  setting where Nijel  made a name for himself,
Five years ago in London Olympics Rudisha denied Amos and Botswana Gold
mesmerizing the audience with a great showing running a 1:40.91record which
remains the greatest record of all time.

Despite  the athletes’ dull moments this year were his prospects  looked
bleak  with reports of Sponsor threats to withdraw sponsorship  due to
inconsistent displays Amos’s career seems to have taken a U-turn as  he
looks more revitalized  and  energetic than ever.

With eyes focused on the prize Amos’s only worries will be Kenyan new
talent in Emmanuel Korir and Kipyegon Bett who both come with huge
potential
and will look  to leave a mark and cause an upset.
